YELLOW PERIL
YELLOW PERIL
I want a big brother
As I can't keep a blue one in the shop I'll try for a different color scheme and do a TY250A in
Yellow/White to match the TY175 that I had done with the chrome frame and yellow accessories.
I have one really nice bike left that is nearly all original, if you like that sort of thing, and so this
should be easy. Strip the motor and it's recently been rebored so leave well alone here and just
paint the barrel and head and cut the fins without removing fingerprints.
Downstairs, new points for the hell of it, new 12 tooth and bin the 14 that was on it, must have
been a road racer! Usual ignition cable mods and of course off with the oil pump, fabricate the
blanking plate and seal up the case.
Rear sprocket is new so just a new chain and then cut the old airbox off and re-rivett the holes.
Clean and spray white to match the frame and tank/seat unit. Super pair of wheels so just spoke
cleaning and tightening and some new tires.
A new Mikuni and reed set and Uni filter all at the ready, cables, throttle and Renthals all in the
shop and a leftover set of Fox shoks and some shorty yellow levers. All that's left is respray the
last solid bash plate and the exhaust system.
From my stores, some polished forks and yokes along with the polished engine cases and now a
quick weekend build.
Recover the Sammy Miller seat, red doesn't crack it and redo the side decals in yellow and black
and then the final touch of the little black cat.
Sure is a Pretty Thing!
It runs beautifully but the rear shocks that look good in the photo turned out to be crap and were
binned!
SOLD
I never got to ride it in competition as it was snapped up like a baby wilderbeast at the waterhole.
I did get to see it in action at the Perris 2 Day and the owner just couldn't stop smiling.
I'm running out of projects!
