THE MAD HATTER
THE MAD HATTER
Oh Yes, the cabin fever quest now moves into google research in the quest to find a YES helmet.
Whatever happened to these super lids ? Mine are now about 12 years old and I would dearly love to
find a stockist somewhere in the world that still has some leftovers from that age gone by.
The only one I can find is on the Scottishtrial website and is in color Red. Can’t imagine why they
stopped producing them, Dougie Lampkin used to wear one, and they seemed pretty popular here in
the US, so much so that when I came back to the Trials world it was one of the first helmets that I was
offered to go with my new Gas Gas.
Moving back on the Vintage scene another “Yes” was purchased and this time a silver/red version of
the Dougie Lampkin replica which I have also seen in white/red.
The “Dougie” replica in silver/red
As I moved through the bike inventory by the time I was into British Iron the silver/red model needed
to be resprayed to go with the Enfield and more lately the reconfigured Cub.
Redone to go with the Enfield
New logos for 2012 and the Stealth Cub
The Blackcat Stealth helmet with “muted” Union jack
The original black version served me well with the Gas Gas and was often used with the Glitz model
of the Yamaha. Superglitz in the new retro Yam colors has a choice of the new XC-ting helmet, but
having only used it once I’m not 100% convinced on the fit of the helmet, maybe back to the good old
Yes in black with perhaps a little updating for 2013
My research shows two NEW helmets out there in the retro Yam yellow/black, one from NAU and the
other from AIROH.
Love the “Yam” colors of the NAU but I sold the last one I had as it looked
a bit strange on my head !
The very latest from Airoh, but the yellow looks more limey than Yam
yellow, need to see this one in the flesh
Another shot, not quite so “lemony”
With not much else to do and the season only SIX weeks away it was into the sticker box and time to
make the XC-Ting what is says and put it into Yamaha mode.
XC-Ting goes Yamaha
My old Black YES was stripped of its Triumph finery and also given the Yam treatment to give me two
options for the first event as work in California on Cub parts has not been moving forward at a pace
that will have the bike up and running in time !!! Somewhat annoying, but a long season ahead and
Superglitz will get a full run at the Clubman Championship before the Cub enters the fray.
Black YES in full Yam mode
Still the best in my opinion
If only that price were true !…. see you at the tea party Apr 13/14
